Adidas Originals ZX500 - Rainbow

The rainbow will always be a reminder of good things to come. What better way to keep the New Year bright than by wearing rainbow on your feet.  You will be able to do that by getting the Adidas Originals ZX500 – Rainbow sneaker, which is actually a ZX500 sneaker wrapped in a combination of black patent leather and suede.

The sneaker’s toe box, mid panel and ankle come in suede, but the toe panel all the way to the heel, have been wrapped in patent leather that gives the sneaker a shiny attitude. The sneaker only has four lace holes which come in the same grey color as the Adidas three stripes, thus creating a continuous effect.

The defining design for the Adidas Originals ZX500 – Rainbow sneaker is however the rainbow-colored midsole with the embossed Adidas branding. The sneaker sports black shoelaces and an alternate set in rainbow colors.

The black theme of the sneaker is carried all the way to the tongue with the silver tongue tag, the shoe laces and the outsole. The Adidas Originals ZX500 – Rainbow sneaker will clearly stand out even when you’re lining up in a sea of sneaker-clad people.

I’m pretty sure the design was inspired by the ZX Spectrum, a computer brand back in the eighties. The 4 rainbow colours, black canvas and the sole is a very nice research work I might add. It shows how the keyboard looked like if you would rip of the keys and the “embossed stripes” reminds the metal cooler that existed on the right of the computer chassis.

Defnitely ZX Spectrum inspired… They have an image of the ‘R’ key on the back of the heel. (You can just make out the edge of it in the 2nd picture…)
