The design of this sneaker will remind you of the song “She’s Like The Wind”. Not surprising at all considering that the sneaker indeed gives you that airy and wavy feeling, thanks to the swinging design on the side panels.
The Nike Air Bakin’ Retro Black/Red sneaker is actually not a new colorway as it has been seen before specifically way back 1997 and then it was retroed in 2007. The Bakin’ is back and it’s back with a big bang!
The sneaker made headlines a few years ago after an Islamic Group raised a howl over the Bakin’s flame logo at the back, which was placed there to resemble a flame and nothing more. Apparently, the group thought the logo was too similar to Arabic word that means Allah or God so Nike recalled the Air Bakin. The same thing also happened to the Air Bar-B-Q.
The sneaker sells for $125 but you get a lot of history in it if only for that period in the sneaker’s life. It comes in a primarily black upper accented by the red wave-like pattern on the side panel, and the yellow shoelaces. The Nike swoosh is found on the sole and the sneaker’s collar.
