Back in the yesteryears, punks, street people, and mostly skaters are tagged as the Thrashers.  The noun has several meaning yet it varies depending on the purpose and nature. With Vans, the name is simply how they can tag their sneaker known as the Old Skool model.

This is actually how the original Vans look like, only that this one has got laces. The Old Skool is made of black upper with white sole in low cut. It is the counterpart of the slip on styled sneaker from Vans for this has laces in black color as well. Plus, the name Thrasher: Skater of the Year is imprinted at the back part area of the sole.
